Michael Collins was inbued by the spirit of the Young Ireland movement, he particularly quoted Thomas Davis writings - educate that you may be free - Three of the Young Irelanders John O'Mahony, James Stephens and Michael Doheny founded the Fenian movement in 1858 in New York. which became known as the Irish Republican Brotherhood (I.R.B.) in Ireland, Michael Collins was to be its last President.
