This Bristol Aircraft Company's two seater was bought for Michael Collins by Commdt Emmet Dalton, at Croydon Airport. As director of Intelligence and having a price of £10,000 on his head, Michael Collins thought it prudent, in case of a breakdown of the Treaty negotiations, to have an aircraft ready to fly him back to Ireland. It was subsequently used by President Cosgrave in the 1923 General Election to fly him to the different cities. It became the nucleus of the Irish Air Corps.
