Conscious of the calls made on people from time to time by the promoters of many worthy causes, I am on behalf of the Collins 22 Society throwing my hat into that pool and appealing to you to make a contribution to the Society toward the production of an DVD to be marketed worldwide entitled "Michael Collins remembered"
This is an appeal for Financial support - in other words if you have a spare thousand or two Euro would you give it to the Societies finance committee. The estimated costs which includes hiring old period footage etc is circa 120k euro.
This DVD will be a very professional and historic production, is being made to help foster the aims of the Society (That the State honours Michael Collins by erecting his Statue in the Courtyard of Leinster House - our seat of government) as well as being a historic record of the man who gave his life to honouring Ireland.

We were delighted to have Commdt Sean Clancy (retired)the 104 year old last surviving member of the Commander in Chiefs Officer Corp with us at the National Launch of the Society in the Mansion House, Dublin on Oct 16th 2005. He gave an interview, which included his total recall of being present at the handover by the British to Michael Collins in the Castle yard in Jan 1922 and the famous 7 minute's late incident.

I hope you can support us in this very costly undertaking. We know the potential market worldwide, we also need to advance seriously the Aims of the Society amongst the 'grass roots' so that when we are ready - the powers that be will not be able to say "NO" to our demand to honour our hero with this statue.
The photo's at the top are from the annual Commemoration at Beal na Blath, which is held on the same Sunday in August as the Commemoration to Collins and Griffith in Glasnevin cemetary. As both these events commemorate his death we (the Society) wish to celebrate his life achievements too.
